His Extra Effort Helps Someone in Need
Geoffrey Hallock, M.D., had just spent 12 hours performing a
complicated surgery. But when his help was needed for another patient,
he didn’t think twice about working even longer.
He discovered that it was his colleague, an emergency department (ED)
nurse, who asked for his help in treating her husband, who had suffered
serious facial injuries in a car accident.
Hallock, associate chief of plastic surgery, consulted with her and
reassured he’d do everything possible. He then performed a five-hour
surgery to treat his injuries and kept his ED nurse colleague informed
and comforted throughout, encouraging her to get some much-needed rest.
“It’s how Dr. Hallock goes the extra mile every day to provide patients
and their families the best possible care,” says Courtney Vose, R.N.,
Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest emergency department director. This page last updated 2/12/08 04:08 PM
